Abstract: PID controllers have been by far the most frequently used controllers for a long time. The control of time-delayed systems is challenging in particular. There are some heuristic methods known that can be used in the time and frequency domains. These are, for example, those of Ziegler Nichols, Latzel, or Chien Hrones and Reswick. The parameters that are found in this way result in asysmptotically stable systems. In most cases, however, they show transient behavior in practice, which still requires readjustment. In this publication, parameter sets for PID controllers are presented, which can be used to control systems with time-delayed stable step responses. These minimize the quality criteria in the time domain, IAE, ITAE and ISE. Since the determination of the parameter sets is very computationally intensive, an approach from the field of artificial intelligence was chosen for their calculation.
