Abstract: | Information collected by sensors can be sent to servers using LPWAN nodes. In many cases, energy autonomy is desired for such nodes, in order to avoid the costs of maintenance. This is not always easy to achieve. We will discuss the energy requirements for LPWAN nodes, based on energy measurements that we have made. We will then show and discuss examples of energy autonomous nodes that we have realised in the last years, highlighting the problems and how they were solved. The accent will be on using temperature differences or small solar cells as energy harvesters. |
