Abstract:	Das Precision Time Protocol (PTP) gemäss IEEE 1588 ermöglicht es, Uhren in einem verteilten System aufeinander abzugleichen und so eine gemeinsame Zeitbasis zu schaffen. Damit ergeben sich für Anwendungen der Automatisierungs- und Messtechnik ganz neue Lösungsansätze. Das Tutorial gibt einen Einblick in die Arbeitsweise des PTP und behandelt besondere Aspekte der Netzwerkumgebung und der Implementierung. Im Vordergrund steht dabei der Einsatz im Zusammenhang mit Ethernet, wie er in mehreren Echtzeitkommunikationslösungen vorgesehen ist.
