dc.description.abstractTo the maximum extent possible, educational curricula and pedagogy should reflect the interconnections among disciplines that are central to sustainable development. The benefit of this approach is that sustainability is an ideal organizing theme for encouraging holistic, integrative and solution oriented thinking. Universities of Applied Sciences, due to their future orientation, trans-disciplinarity, services to society, practically oriented (research) programmes which will be able to assess developments on their sustainability, as well as multi-faculty studies (e.g. civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering), will assume a key role in this respect in Switzerland. In this paper we will present ideas of structure and contents for sustainability modules to be well integrated into the curricula of engineering education within Universities of Applied Sciences.de_CH
