Zusammenfassung: | Financial analysts’ assessments and recommendations are sought after but also feared by companies’ investor relations, wanted by investors, and cited by the press; their opinions influence share prices around the globe. In short, financial analysts play an essential role in financial communication (1). Based on both an overview of state-of-the-art research and our own ethnographic data in the field of financial communication, collected and analyzed over more than 20 years, we discuss financial analysts’ core competences, tasks, interactions, challenges, interdependencies, exposure, and impact on financial communication in daily business (2), as part of their research team (3), within their organization (4), as key players in the financial community (5), and situated in the financial industry (6). We conclude by providing an outlook on how financial analysts are likely to be affected by future developments and changes and how this will impact financial communication as a whole (7). |
