In times of fundamental social change, psychology faces critical challenges. At the same time, psychology as a science and profession is expected to make a decisive contribution to overcoming these challenges. Psychology as an evidence-based practice meets these challenges in a hypothesis-driven approach that combines theory and empiricism, personal expertise, and ethical grounding. This will be illustrated with individual examples of psychological services in times of pandemic. The concluding outlook points to further topics and tasks that psychology will have to face in the coming months and years.de_CH
