Billions of tax dollars are being spent around the world, and it will take several years before the consequences of these major government actions become fully visible. One thing is certain, however, the role of government will be reshaped. Can public management cope with this degree of change? The Annual Conference 2010 of the International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM) in Bern reflected upon these issues.
