| dc.description.abstract | This article focusses on the figurative constitution of awakening in Sigmund Freud's Traumdeutung. It unfolds the process of Freud's intellectual work on constructing tropological systems in order to control the transfiguration from dream into consciousness. Censorship and dissimulation, regression and detour, form the main movements of thought within a psychic system that is conceived through visual metaphors of insight and blindness. The persuasive power of Freud's Traumdeutung can be understood as a function of figures of thought which define the limits between dream and consciousness as well as the limits of theory itself. The inconceivability of awakening turns out to be the productive symptom of a resistance that forces any psychoanalytical theory to reflect upon the tropological status of its own models of knowledge. | de_CH |
