In times of crisis, ethical leadership is necessary. This can be seen in decisions that reflect the three basic ethical approaches in dialogue with all those affected and take into account all available expert knowledge, resources and capabilities to the best of our knowledge and belief. An ethical manager should be credible and trustworthy towards his followers through virtues such as fairness, honesty and be a role model for them. He should also be critical of himself with regard to prejudices and biases against the facts as presented by various experts. He should admit his mistakes and be willing to correct them. They should be more concerned with the common good than with their own, i.e. have an altruistic attitude. Under time pressure, the three test questions mentioned above can at least give them a rough idea of the ethical content of their planned decisions. Consider (1) the reciprocity test, which asks about fairness for all affected persons, respect (2) the daylight test, which asks about the public acceptance of a decision, and conduct (3) the empathy test, which implies a role reversal of the decision maker with those of the affected persons.de_CH
