Zusammenfassung: The electricity supply system of Stadtwerk Winterthur is undergoing modernisation and improvement, including the voltage increase of the medium voltage network (NE5) from 11 kV to 22 kV to enhance transfer capacity. However, this increase requires reinforcement of the existing cable lines in the Bruderhaus area, which are designed for 6 kV. Grid reinforcements are costly and alternative solutions must be considered to resolve or delay the problem. This paper aim is to show investigated and evaluated alternative solutions to ensure a continuous and reliable power supply for the Bruderhaus area in Winterthur. The results showed the technical and economic feasibility of various alternatives and propose suitable solutions for radial medium voltage grid.
