Zusammenfassung: | Novel and effective analytical calculations of the thermal characteristics of plate heat exchangers have been presented. The basic concept is the use of a reference operation point that is known but must not be necessarily the design point. Three main equations have been established and presented for the heat power and exit temperatures of two flows. They apply to all types of plate heat exchangers in both parallel and counter-flow arrangements and allow the complete thermal characteristics to be calculated by knowing only one reference point. The calculation can be easily performed in tabular form. The conversion equation between parallel and counter-flow arrangements has been provided for calculating the operation points from one arrangement to another. The evidenced thermal relationship between plate heat exchangers with different plate numbers shows that the thermal characteristics of such plate heat exchangers are identical when the proportional reference operating points are applied. The analyses and calculations could be well validated by measurements. Finally, the calculation concept for the thermal characteristics of other heat exchanger types was outlined. |
