| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The effective use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication is challenging, not only for persons with complex communication needs, but also for their significant others. There is a need, therefore, for interprofessional collaboration in order to effectively assess, provide, and evaluate services. Aim: The aim of this scoping review was to summarize current evidence in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication and reveal the demands for further research. Method: We searched in the electronic databases Pubmed, AMED, and CINAHL using following keywords child*, disability, cerebral palsy, augmentative and alternative communication, intervention, and therapy to identify relevant literature. We summarised the content of the included studies. Results: We included 16 literature reviews and 36 studies in this review. The 36 studies included 11 intervention studies, 20 descriptive studies, two experimental studies, and three studies evaluating assessments. Most of the studies were focussing on children with cerebral palsy and autism in the contexts of home, hospital, and primary school. There were no intervention studies, focusing on secondary and/or tertiary level of education or work. Moreover, we have not found any evidence from German speaking Europe. Conclusion: In order to support the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication and to enable participation of persons with complex communication needs, various endeavours are needed: in the practice of care settings interprofessional collaboration is required. Further research is needed in order to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, focussing on youth and the contexts of secondary and/or tertiary education or work, or on assessments. Hintergrund: Der gelungene Einsatz Unterstützter Kommunikation ist eine komplexe Herausforderung für Personen mit komplexen Kommunikationsbedürfnissen, ihre Bezugspersonen und das soziale Umfeld. Daher bedarf es einer gut koordinierten interprofessionellen Zusammenarbeit. Der Recherche zufolge besteht eine Wissenslücke in Bezug auf Assessments, wirkungsvolle Versorgung und Evaluation der Unterstützten Kommunikation. Ziel: Das Ziel war, einen Überblick über die aktuelle Evidenz im Bereich der Unterstützten Kommunikation aufzustellen, um daraus den Forschungsbedarf für die interprofessionelle Abklärung, das interprofessionelle Training sowie die Evaluation abzuleiten. Methode: Mit den Keywords child*, disability, cerebral palsy, augmentative and alternative communication, intervention und therapy haben wir in den elektronischen Datenbanken PubMed, AMED und CINAHL nach der relevanten Literatur gesucht. Die Abstracts der eingeschlossenen Studien wurden inhaltlich zusammengefasst. Resultate: Insgesamt wurden 36 Originalstudien, davon 11 Interventionsstudien, 20 deskriptive Studien, zwei experimentelle Studien und drei Studien zur Entwicklung/Evaluation von Assessments, sowie 16 Literaturreviews eingeschlossen. Im Fokus der Originalstudien standen vor allem Kinder mit Zerebralparese oder einer Autismus-Spektrum-Störung im häuslichen Umfeld, im Krankenhaus-Setting und in der Schule. Es gab keine Interventionsstudien im Bereich der sekundären/tertiären Bildungsstufe und im Beruf. Im deutschsprachigen Raum gab es keine Originalstudie. Zusammenfassung: Um den Einsatz Unterstützer Kommunikation zu fördern und die Partizipation von Personen mit komplexen Kommunikationsbedürfnissen zu ermöglichen, bedarf es vielfältiger Bemühungen: in der Versorgungspraxis ist eine interprofessionelle Zusammenarbeit unabdingbar. Ausserdem sind Studien zur Evaluation der Wirksamkeit der Intervention notwendig, Studien, bei denen Jugendliche im Fokus stehen, sowie Studien, die sich mit sekundärer/tertiärer Bildung und Arbeit oder standardisierten Assessments befassen. | de_CH |
