dc.description.abstract | The thermodynamic properties of helium at wide range of temperature and pressure are analytically derived from the knowledge of the pair spherical potentials to which quantum corrections are superposed. The double Yukawa potential model is considered to describe the intermolecular attraction and repulsion energies. Low temperature quantum effects are incorporated by using the first order quantum correction of the Wigner-Kirkwood expansion. A fundamental equation of state is formulated including Helmholtz energy as an explicit function of temperature and density. The thermodynamic properties are expressed as an explicit combination of the Helmholtz energy and its derivatives. The obtained values are compared to the thermodynamic data and the Molecular Dynamic calculations, a satisfactory correspondence with simulation results is realized. The feature of helium thermodynamics in the critical region is discussed. Contrary to most previous similar works, the present theory retrieves the main features of the helium at wide temperature and pressure from analytical formulation. | de_CH |
