dc.description.abstract | We present a new method of 3D printing which is capable of preparing highly porous, ultralight nanofiber aerogels by an additive manufacturing method. The cryo-3D printing method relies on the instant freezing of a nanofiber suspension upon contact with a pre-cooled printing bed. Starting from a suspension of short nanofibers, cryo-3D printing enabels the preparation of nanofiber aerogels with unique properties such low densities, tunable mechanical properties and very high porosities. Since this 3D printing method is carried out under mild conditions, all nanofiber features are fully retained. This novel 3D printing method bridges the gap between nanofibrous materials and additive manufacturing and offers high versatility regarding materials and printing geometries. | de_CH |
