The study presented here analyzes an instrument of implementation developed by the six canons of central Switzerland to fulfill the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions on the regional level of states. Therefore, an evaluative, explorative case study is being carried out within which the structures, governance, and activities of four cultural organizations from the fields of literature, folk music, events, and contemporary arts are evaluated through structured, focused comparison. The project lasts until 2018. The results so far suggest that cultural centers of excellence can be a suitable instrument to protect and promote the diversity of cultural expressions in a region.de_CH
